Some things Goalkeepers Union has in mind for the future are: 1)
In the meantime, Blair will keep progressing towards the next qualification so we can build more ways to train great goalkeepers.
Goalkeepers Union is run by Blair Machin and aims to provide goalkeeper training to footballers in the Queanbeyan and Canberra area. Whilst our region has excellent participation rates in football, there is a lack of dedicated training for aspiring goalkeepers. Goalkeepers Union will seek broad engagement with clubs across all levels and sees goalkeeper advocacy as a key responsibility.
In an effort to provide access to goalkeeper training in the off-season (school terms 1 and 4), Goalkeepers Union runs
Blair has coached goalkeepers from Brindabella, Gungahlin United, Monaro, Majura, Olympic, Canberra Croatia, O'Connor Knights, Queanbeyan City, Radford College, Burgmann School, Tigers, Tuggeranong United, Weston Molonglo, Woden Valley and White Eagles.
Blair holds both the Football Australia B Diploma and the Goalkeeping B Diploma. Blair provides training based on the Football Australia principles and training methodology. He also holds NSW Working With Children Check, ACT Working With Vulnerable People registration, and insurance for the training activities.
Blair grew up in Canberra and was a goalkeeper with Belnorth as a junior and represented the ACT at junior, schoolboy and senior levels. He played for Canberra Olympic and Belconnen United in the ACT Premier League, and the ACT Academy of Sport in the National Youth League. At age 20 Blair travelled to the UK and, after trials and training spells in London, spent a season in the Scottish League with Queen’s Park. Blair’s passion for football was re-ignited when his children started playing. As they have grown with the game so has his interest and involvement in coaching both players and goalkeepers.
